February 2009 Newsletter

Welcome to our First Newsletter for 2009

We are stirring with excitement to reconnect with you.   We redesigned our newsletter layout so every month there will be the latest news and reviews, a very special featured account that promotes our wines and offers our customers an exceptional eating experience, upcoming events that you may wish to join us for tastings and a Sean Minor Wines Blog fan page featuring family traditions and recommendations from our Four Bears community. We highly encourage you to blog us with your own personal ratings on the recipes and wines, so our readers can see your reviews!

Wine Spectator Chooses Top Values for 2008

We are thrilled that the Wine Spectator (Jan 31 to Feb 28th, 2009, page 91)  featured our Sauvignon Blanc as one of the top wine values from 2008.   The list contains 85 total wines from California along with some strategies to help you choose wine values in 2009. This is the fourth time Wine Spectator has featured our Sauvignon Blanc in the last 12 issues. What a terrific start to 2009!  We are thinking some cracked crab under the broiler with plenty of garlic, butter and a little Sauvingon Blanc would be perfect.

Thank you Wine Writers and Reviewers!

We have great optimism for 2009 and our mantra remains, produce wines that over deliver.

Our reviews from wine writers and the wine blogging world on Sean Minor Wines leads our consumers to us and those reviews have been fantastic. Consumers are looking for real wine values in the market place and according to write ups, Sean Minor Wines has delivered.

We appreciate those writers recognizing our wines and providing their expert opinions on each varietal.  Information is key to the success of our business.  You can check out some reviews posted on our site or Google it for yourself. Have fun, and remember, everything always looks better with a good glass of wine in your hand! Especially a Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon that is under $20.  Cheers! Sean

Happy Valentine's Day: Traditions from the home

The Minor family celebrates and has celebrated Valentine's Day as a family for 13 years, when our first child came along. We make it a dual dinner! The table is set for 6 with lots of Valentine treats, pink and red. When you have a family of 6 it looks like a small party! While the children eat, we sit with them enjoying our glass of Sean Minor: Four Bears Sonoma County Sauvignon Blanc while we listen to their Valentine stories from school. We always feast on the family favorite, slow cooked ribs (try the recipe from Sunnyside, it is a sure thing). This is the one meal we can be certain that everyone will eat. Then the kids leave the table and we light the candles, pour some Sean Minor: Four Bears Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon and enjoy our dinner for two. Probably unconventional, but it works for us! We like to be with the kids on this day, a tradition that Nicole had growing up and one we keep going! When it really comes down to it, the children are "our valentines". Life is good and we have much to be grateful for.

The Minor Family

In August 2007, she had a C-section, and though she worried about complications, Monica delivered a healthy baby girl. But hours after Sofia was born, Monica began running a fever. No one was concerned at first -- Monica figured it was just hormones -- but three days later the fever hadn't broken, and Monica's abdomen was swollen and painful. iReport.com: What do you think about this story? Sound off on video

The doctors at Monica's hospital thought she might be infected with a deadly strain of bacteria. They flew her to a hospital in Boston where she was diagnosed with necrotizing fasciitis, also known as flesh-eating bacteria.

Defying the odds, Monica survived, but many of her organs didn't. The doctors removed Monica's uterus, ovaries, gallbladder and part of her colon that same day.
